Do we publish single-author works? Absolutely! While our primary focus is on multi-author anthologies Eldritch Cat Press also welcomes completed single-author works for consideration — especially those that share our love for the eerie, the uncanny and the monstrous.
We’re the most interested in dark fiction from the categories below, but we’re always happy to discuss other genres and styles (even something like a witchy cookbook could be viable, so never be afraid to ask!)
- Gothic horror, especially if southern or Appalachian
- Paranormal romance
- Macabre folklore
- Speculative fiction
- Eldritch or cosmic horror
- Monsters of any kind
- Gods, especially the kind who make us question our own morals and beliefs
- Animals (ghost cats delivering warnings, or black dogs continuing their guard duties from the afterlife? Yes, please!)
- Curses
- Superstitions that you can give an unexpected meaning to
- Dark, twisted fairy tales

We are particularly passionate about elevating underrepresented voices (including BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, disabled, and neurodivergent authors) and are happy to work with both debut and seasoned writers.
At Eldritch Cat Press we offer our authors a 50/50 royalty split on net profits for all single-author collections, and in exchange we ask for one year of exclusive publishing rights. This agreement ensures that both the author and the press benefit equally from each sale, while also giving writers the freedom to republish or pursue other opportunities for their writing after the exclusivity period ends.
To inquire please send a query letter and the first 3 chapters (or first 10,000 words) to eldritchcatpress@gmail.com, and be sure to include a brief author biography plus a description of the book/collection’s contents.
We look forward to discovering if your work can find a home here at Eldritch Cat Press, and we appreciate your time!
